Blessing House Family Summer Picnic

On June 30th, Tom Caito and his staff at Strategic Capital Advisors hosted a picnic for over 120 guests at Blessing House. Our parents, children, staff members and board members had a chance to get together and visit in our backyard while Tom and his staff served up the hamburgers and hot dogs.

National Child Abuse Prevention Month

Planting Pinwheels at Blessing House
In recognition of National Child Abuse Awareness Month, Blessing House is participating in the Pinwheel Display sponsored by Lorain County Children and Families Council. 100 Pinwheels have been planted in our front yard.
One for every 5 children who have stayed with us since we opened 5 years ago.
Amherst Girl Scouts PJ Party
We would like to thank the 96 Girl Scouts who gathered at Nord Middle School in Amherst on a Friday night in February to make blankets for the children at Blessing House. The girls, their leaders and their families collected a van full of food and household items for the children then went to work to make fleece blankets to keep them warm while they are at the house. Thanks to the Girl Scouts for all of your hard work for our kids!

The residents of Autumn Aegis Nursing Home worked hard to make warm blankets for our children. Sr. Mary was honored to accept their gifts for Blessing House.

Butterfly Garden
This Spring, students from Lorain County Community College’s Service Learning Program planned and installed a butterfly garden in our backyard. The students designed a garden that included plants that attracted butterflies, stepping stones made by the children who stayed at Blessing House, a bench and a solar operated water fountain.
The students also designed and sold t-shirts to help raise funds to pay for their supplies.
Thanks to Ruby Beil for coordinating this project that has added yet another gem to the backyard at Blessing House our kids call “The Park.”
